Tony’s Action Plan
My main goal has been to engage our community more in shaping our city for the future. It is because of the past and current involvement of our community members that we have an excellent foundation for the great city we live in but we must do more. Our community is made up of our residents, our businesses and our local city government. Since December 24, 1912, Sunnyvale has evolved from a strong agriculture community to a leader in the technology world. We must continue to evolve in order to keep Sunnyvale on the path of greatness to become the number one city to both live and work.
I have been very active over the past four years working on behalf of all members of our community.
As your Councilmember, I have:
- Hired a new City Manager with the help of my council colleagues and input from our community as a whole
- Continued support of the downtown development
- Supported connections to regional bicycle facilities
- Supported affordable senior housing units with underground parking
- Supported funding for transitional housing for services of domestic violence
- Supported business identification of ground signs and street numbers
- Supported streamlining pursuit of Grant funding
- Supported city-wide Green building policies
- Approved Downtown Business District
- Voted to accept grant of funding of “We’ve Only Just Begun” – A Federal Library Grant Fund
- Encouraged Solar businesses to relocate and open in Sunnyvale
- Supported funding for Junior Achievement and Leadership Sunnyvale
- Supported Sunnyvale Works program
As your Mayor, I have:
• Established a couple key committees that have a paramount impact for each member of our Sunnyvale community.
Read by 3rd Grade, A Sunnyvale Community Project
Established this committee to "Read by 3rd Grade" to improve reading skills of our children before preschool
Transportation Committee
Created this committee to address a better way for our citizens and employees of our business community to travel around our city
Paramedic Blue Ribbon Committee
Commissioned this committee to improve emergency response times within the city
• Re-established Mayor’s Community Office Hours to provide a one-on-one forum for members of our community to bring their personal ideas and/or concerns to light
• Revitalized the Mayor’s Business Roundtable to include not only large and small businesses but active residents as well as many educators so that we can find a way to balance the demand for an innovative business community within diversified industries without losing our “community” identity
• Re-established the Annual Sunnyvale Pet Parade with the main goal of bringing a sense of community back to Sunnyvale in a way that allows many residents to participate in a fun and relaxed setting
